Community program

Free Refrendo for community clubs

A soccer club, a men’s shed, a community garden, a preschool committee. If your group is run by volunteers and the money goes back into the group, you shouldn’t be paying a software licence to get a committee resolution signed. Apply below and we’ll set you up free.

Who it’s for

All four have to be true:

  • Not-for-profit. An incorporated association, a registered charity, or a community group with an ABN. Any surplus goes back into the group and is never distributed to members.
  • Run by volunteers. A paid coordinator or a part-time administrator is fine. A business that happens to have a not-for-profit structure is not what this is for.
  • Small. Under $500,000 a year, which is the line the ACNC itself uses for a small charity.
  • Australian. Registered here, operating here.

Who it isn’t for

Government agencies, schools and universities themselves (a volunteer parents’ committee is welcome), political parties, industry and professional associations, and groups above the revenue line. Those groups are welcome on the ordinary plans.

What happens next

  1. A person reads your application. Give us a few days.
  2. We look the group up: the ABN on the business register, or the state register of incorporated associations.
  3. We email you either way. If something doesn’t add up we ask rather than assume.

Approved groups get free access, reviewed once a year. It is not a trial, and no card is needed. If the group grows past the limit, we will talk to you about it, and nothing stops working in the meantime. Refrendo is in a closed beta and everyone in it is free for now; this is what happens when the beta ends.
