Built around how Australian law looks at e-signatures
Under the Electronic Transactions Acts, an electronic signature works when it identifies the person, shows they intended to sign, is reliable for the purpose, and the other party has agreed to deal electronically. Refrendo is designed around those tests:
- Identity: each signer gets their own single-use link, and colleagues sign from their signed-in account. The certificate records how each person was identified.
- Intention: before completing, signers see explicit consent wording, which is stored as shown and in the language they saw it.
- Reliability: SHA-256 fingerprints of the original and final document, and an audit trail where every event is chained to the last.
Some documents still need wet ink or witnessing depending on the state, most obviously wills. When in doubt, check with your adviser.
