The completion certificate and audit trail
Every completed document comes with a certificate listing each approver and signer, what they did and when, how they were identified, and SHA-256 fingerprints of the original and the final PDF. Anyone can compare a file’s fingerprint with the certificate to check it is the one that was signed.
It also lists when each person agreed to electronic records and which disclosure they agreed to, every statement they confirmed, word for word in the language they saw it, their approximate location where it’s known (region and country, never the IP address), and anyone who received a copy.
Behind it, the sender’s workspace keeps the full audit trail: every step, the exact consent wording each person agreed to, their IP address and approximate location, and their device. Each record is chained to the one before, so a later edit is detectable, and the request page shows whether the chain verifies. We describe it as tamper-evident: a later change is detectable, not impossible.
