Two-step verification and passkeys

Two-step verification

After your password, Refrendo asks for a six-digit code from an authenticator app such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator or 1Password. Turn it on under Profile → Two-step verification, and keep the backup codes somewhere safe: each one signs you in once if you lose your phone.

If you sign in with a password, you need two-step verification (or a passkey and no password) before you can send documents.

Passkeys

A passkey signs you in with your fingerprint, face or device PIN instead of a password. It can’t be phished or leaked, and it counts as two factors on its own. Add one under Profile → Passkeys. Once you have one, you can remove your password entirely.

Microsoft and single sign-on

If you sign in with Microsoft or your organisation’s single sign-on, that provider protects your sign-in. You can still turn on two-step verification in Refrendo: you will then be asked for a code or a passkey after signing in.
