Access codes for a recipient
An emailed link proves someone controls an inbox. When that isn’t enough, such as a shared inbox or an agreement that matters, ask for an access code. The recipient has to enter it before they can see the request, and the link to the finished copy asks for it too.
- When you add the person, tick Ask for an access code. While the request is waiting, you can also choose Add access code beside them on the request page.
- Refrendo makes a code and shows it to you once, after sending, or you set your own of 6 to 32 letters or numbers.
- Give it to them by phone or in person. Refrendo never emails it, and there is no text-message option.
Access codes are on every plan. A code is stored only as a hash, so a lost code can be replaced but never looked up.
Wrong codes
After five wrong codes the link pauses for 15 minutes and you are emailed. After three pauses it locks until you set a new code.
On the record
The audit trail and the certificate show the person as identified by “Secure emailed link + access code”. They record that a code was entered, never the code itself.
Colleagues signed in to Refrendo are asked for the code too, before they act on their turn.
Still stuck?
Email support@refrendo.com.au and a person will reply.
